Math Education
AREA I-V Recommendations
AREA I:
A grade of "C" or higher is required in Composition I and II at ¹û¶³´«Ã½.
"D" grades will not transfer.
AREA II:
When selecting courses from Areas II and IV, please note that at least one 6sh sequence
in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV) must be completed.
AREA III:
A grade of "C" or higher is required in the Math course chosen. "D" grades will not
transfer.
Students attending ¹û¶³´«Ã½ are required to take a general studies science
course in Calculus. Students attending a community college are strongly encouraged
to take MTH 125(Calculus I) to meet this requirement.
AREA IV:
When selecting courses from Areas II and IV, please note that at least one 6sh sequence in either Literature (Area II) or History (Area IV) must be completed.
Students attending ¹û¶³´«Ã½ are required to complete an Introduction to Leadership course.
Students attending a community college are strongly encouraged to complete LDR 101 (Introduction to Leadership) in Area IV to meet this requirement.
AREA V:
The remaining 18-25 SH in Area V can be obtained at the community college by taking 18-25 SH from the following:
- LDR 101 (Introduction to Leadership)(3 SH)-if not taken in Area IV
- MTH 125 (Calculus I)(4 SH) – if not taken in Area III
- MTH 126 (Calculus II)(4 SH)
- MTH 227 (Calculus III)(4 SH)
- MTH 237 (Linear Algebra)(3SH)
- MTH 238(Applied Differential Equations)(3SH)
- MTH 265 (Elementary Statistics)(3 SH)
- ORI 101 (Orientation to College)(1 SH)
¹û¶³´«Ã½ Baccalaureate Degrees
The student seeking a baccalaureate degree must meet the following credit hour requirements:
- A minimum of 120 SH
- At least 50 percent of the degree program must be traditional academic credit.
- No more than 25 percent of the degree program may be earned using portfolio based credit.
- At least 25 percent of the degree program must be completed with ¹û¶³´«Ã½.
- Twelve (12) semester hours of work in each major field must be completed in residence
at ¹û¶³´«Ã½.
